The end or the beginning?

Today marked an ending of sorts… on this day we laid to rest the body of Angela’s grandma, Agnes Clara Melnychuk. Agnes was a woman whose contribution to this life was found in small seemingly insignificant ways: a wonderful holiday meal, an apple – cored and skinned, the perfect cup of iced tea. You could say she “majored on the minors”. But she did the “minors” so well that the total equaled far more than just the sum of all the parts. They equaled what so many people miss out on, they equaled the one thing she could still give these last few years after her stroke, the thing she gave you every time she saw you… her love. Who can forget how she would say “I love you”, you couldn’t miss it. Grandma always made sure you knew, through all the little things, that you are loved.

So today marked an ending of sorts…but through that paradox called death it also marks a beginning, both for Agnes on her heavenly journey and for those of us who remain earth bound.
The beginning of a journey to find new ways to share God’s love.
