you are loved

July 24th, 2007
So I woke up this morning with a song in my head and I haven’t been able (or wanted to) shake it.

It’s a simple song by Altar Boys, a classic Christian punk rock band I’ve been a big fan of since I was a ‘tween (and that was over 20 yrs ago already).

You know, the best lyrics aren’t always written by the most articulate writers. And the greatest songs aren’t composed by the most studied composer. The best songs aren’t recorded by the hardest rockers or the most wicked shredders, talented though they are. The best songs are written by someone who captures the song in your heart and records it for all to hear. If I could pick a soundtrack for my life…

Anyway, I was singing a song when I woke up and I just can’t shake it.

You are loved Altar Boys
ch. To all the hearts that have been broken
To all the dreamers with abandoned dreams
To everybody in need of a friend now
You are loved! You are loved!
To all the rebels wounded in battle
To all the rockers that have lost that beat
To all the users all used up now
You are loved! You are loved!

br.You don’t need to stand alone
There’s someone you can hold on to
I want to let you know
You are loved! You are loved!

Westward ho!

Well we did it.
We moved.
From Saskatoon to our new home in Trail.
For many months it seemed like a long way away but over the last several weeks things really accelerated and then !boom! suddenly moving day was upon us and we were loading up the trailer and hauling our goods west. Last Friday (July 6th) we left S’toon and on Saturday (7th) we arrived in Trail ready to move in. But first we had to clean. And clean. And clean.
Yikes! This place was a mess! The person who lived here before must have been a heavy smoker because it was everywhere. But we worked hard cleaning and now it’s getting much better.
The house is basically clean and we’re starting to get things unpacked. The kids rooms are up and running, the bathroom is usable, our bedroom is mostly done, the kitchen is almost all unpacked, the kid’s playroom is a roaring place, the dining room is coming along okay and the living room is usable. So over all we’re doing good.
It’ll be a few weeks before we get any window coverings (using towels and sheets for now) and I’ve got to get working on tearing out the finished basement really soon – it’s yucky. Anyway, we’re here and things will soon be normalizing (returning to the everyday routine). Hopefully then I’ll have more time to tap the keyboard.
Until then…
