Demolition Derby
August 13th, 2007
Well, this past weekend was quite the experience.
It was a demolition derby.
Not the driving variety mind you. No, that would have been fun.
This demolition derby was the “tear your basement apart” variety.
Admittedly there was a lot of similarities between the two..lots of smashing and crashing (lumber, not cars), giving and getting a beating (ripping a basement apart is a lot of work), fans who cheer and jeer you (okay so it was just Aden, Cadel, and Aisha looking in the door & window),and way to much testosterone (4 guys being guys). But the work is done (yeah!) or at least the worst of it is done… all I have left is a bit of vacuuming and other tidying up, then it’s on to the next jobs…plumbing & electrical.
I owe a huge thank you to Dave, Drew & Sheldon for the assistance, without their help I’d still be plugging away at it.

Our house is also undergoing some renovations, as you know. I’ll send you guys some pre-reno pics soon…Mama Melnychuk has taken lots during the reno, so I’ll get her to send those and I’ll send some to you…and then I’ll send you some when it’s done…but maybe you can just come and see us when you’re down for that weekend…are you still coming?? I don’t think we’ll be out of town…except for the saturday.

Hey Nicole,
We got the protective gear from the Health Region, because of many years of Tech Cominco not having scrubbers on the smokestacks there is a build-up of lead dust in the older homes in the area… it’s not an issue until you do renos that stir up all the dust.
I’ll send you your own special coveralls, respirator, and slippers. I’ll even include a pail of Tech Cominco lead dust so you can get the full effect.
Re. coming for a visit September long weekend, I don’t know yet if we’ll be out… I’ve requested the time off but I’m not to sure I’ll get it.
