Up to speed…
August 30th, 2007
Here’s a quick update to fill you in on what’s been happening of late…
Aisha:
Well, she’s now a hustling bustling two year old. What’s she been up to? Well, she sings and talks better than ever. She thinks she can do anything the boys can do and she’s quite adventurous…easily the boldest and most daring child of the three. And she’s a girl, which (being translated) means that we have to deal with her emotions more than the guys, but that’s okay…just something different. And she loves jewelry and makeup.
She loves to wrestle and do “steamrollers” with me, and she has a great time jumping on to and off of me; yes, she finds it absolutely hilarious to cause me pain (so I fake it just to get her giggling).
Cadel:
He’s a six year old in four year old skin, whether it’s on his bike or on a hike, or in a pool or Sunday school, writing a book or at the store, in a boat or a skateboard, playing guns or the guitar, he’s having fun both near and far.
Aden:
He’s as brilliant and creative as ever, writing books, building bike & skate parks (out of toys), learning new skills on his bike, and doing many other things. We’re hoping to still do music lessons this year although it may be that he has to wait a year and then continue with the Music For Young Children program next fall. And school starts soon too.
Angela: Hmmm… what to say about Ang? She’s been busy taking care of 3 kids, getting settled in to our new place, planning for Aden’s schooling, and other secret stuff. She’s enjoying Trail but she’s ready for a visit home and for a chance to do some shopping too.
Me:
Well, I just finished doing inventory at work (all last week), I’ve got a gig coming up today woohoo!, I’ve been working on our house, and I’ve had the chance to do a few rides…Crown Point, Snake, and Milky Way/Green Door.
Us: We had a visitor…my mom came out for a while, it was so great to hang out and do stuff with her. The borscht and dumplings were delicious (as usual) and it was nice for all the grandkids to spend time with granny (and we liked spending time with her too).
When we first bought our place we were told that there were fruit trees on our yard, a cherry & pear tree. Well the cherry tree was indeed a cherry tree (but we didn’t get to eat any) and the pear tree…? Well, the pear tree turned in to an apricot tree which then eventually became a peach tree. Yummy! We picked over a hundred peaches off the tree.
And we did another hike… it was amazing, more on it later.

Okay…well that was a little more than my emotions could handle! WE MISS YOU LIKE CRAZY!!!!!! Everyone looks sooooo grown-up! Especially Kent’s hair…hehe
Our house is almost finished…Derek just has to do the bathrooms and the porch. All of our stuff is moved in…we bought some furniture yesterday…it’s a suddenly season! I don’t know if you can access my Facebook account or not (maybe through Kim and Christine) but I have before pics of the house on it. Anyway, I’m procrastinating and those Score Keys aren’t going to organize themselves…
Love you lots!

Hey Nicole,
We look forward to seeing your house. It sounds nice.
Yes, I bug Kent once in a while about his “surfer” hair.
Miss you lots too. Hope you can visit us soon.
Love you guys!

WE MISS YOU!!! Kent and Ang we can’t wait to come visit…Besides Derek and Nicole will need someone to split the rental car with…LOL. It really isn’t the same without you guys here. I no longer have anyone to smile at when the band strikes up “Sing to You.” Anyways, Laura is the pro at leaving comments and such so I will just quit before I make some silly cannabis comment or something along those lines.
Love you guys!
Simon and Laura
ps…Kent I need your email address

Hey Simon and Laura,
Good to hear from you guys. You are definitely welcome to visit anytime. There is lots to do out here. Plus it would be nice to have some visitors who we sadly but gladly give up our “pizza nights” to.

But who better to give them to than you two.
Love and miss you too. Hope to see you soon and stay in touch.
Ang and the gang
ps I’ll get Kent’s email to you.

Hey Simon, thanks for stopping by. As you know, you are welcome to come visit any time.
I miss you guys too, it’s been weird out here sometimes… for the first few weeks it felt like a dream and that I would wake up and find myself in S’toon on Walmer Road getting ready to ride my bike to work. That sensation stopped, but it still can be surreal at times.
Anyway, I’m off to work.
Re. email, use xcmtr at hotmail dot com and from there I’ll give you my real email.

Aw…so great! Man, I want those peaches!!! I’ll trade you for the walnuts the squirrels throw at our windows…lol.
So great to see you are all doing so well and getting settled in!
Happy Belated Birthday Aisha!

Hey Em,
Ya, we were happy about the peaches too not quite knowing what kind of tree it was until we could actually see them. They were very very juicy. Kent’s mom made us a peach pie when she was here visiting. Peach trees are nice because they are ready sooner than the pears and the residents here have to compete with the bears to see who gets to their pears first. This is bear season so we have to be extra careful.
It sounds like you have lots of friendly squirrels.
