So, I’ve got to tell you this story…
Since moving out here to Trail from Saskatoon we’ve heard that the Trail area has black widow spiders hanging around. Since the prairies don’t have them, we had never seen a black widow to know what they looked like, we’d seen pictures, but pictures can be difficult to translate into real life.
Two weeks ago that all changed.
I was grabbing some coffee from the lunch room at work when I noticed this jet black spider. Thinking it may be a black widow spider I grabbed a clear plastic container and carefully caught it. Then I checked with my co-workers to see if it was indeed a black widow. Sure enough, they confirmed that is was one so I thought that it may be a good idea to bring it home to show my family what a black widow looks like in case they ever see one. So the spider came home with me and I showed Ang and the kids the spider and told them that it is a dangerous spider so be careful. And I made sure they knew to tell us right away if they see one or think they see one. Back at work I got rid of the spider.
The very next day the boys were outside playing when they came running in the house claiming to have seen a black widow. So I came out to investigate, and sure enough, they found a black widow in our yard. I thanked them for finding it, assured them they did a good job of telling me, and then I took care of the threat…one less spider.
I find it amazing how God plans ahead for us…
