plumbovation!

November 14, 2007

So… I’ve been ignoring the world a lot lately because I’ve been tucked away doing renovations every spare minute. Recently Ang & I have been stripping wallpaper off our living & dining room walls, we’ve got the upstairs hallway to go and then we’ll be able to paint almost everything.

(*side note: thank you Bob for all the wiring you have done… you are amazing.)

As well, this past weekend I tackled my plumbing project… we had galvanized plumbing throughout our house and my insurance company wanted it gone (or we wouldn’t be covered), so after may attempts to get a plumber to do it, I bought all the materials myself and tackled the job this past weekend. With the assistance of Larry and the Smithster, I replaced all the pressurized plumbing (and a bit of drainage) in my house. It was a big job and I am so thankful for help I recieved. I had fun and will not be hiring a plumber to do any job like this again… I’d much rather do it myself.

It won’t mean much, but here’s what it looks like now…

playing catchup

November 4, 2007

So, here I am playing catchup once again. I really do have a good excuse, but “excuses are for losers”, and ” quitters never win”, and “second place is the first loser”, and “you can’t win if you don’t compete” and “cheaters never prosper”, and on it goes, blah, blah, blah.

We’ll go from shortest to tallest:

Aisha: …she’s been growing lots, currently a whopping 33.25 inches… that’s a 1.25 inch increase in two months! She talks better than ever, and she is tremendously adventurous.

Cadel: …brings his A-game to everything he does. Currently that means tackling LEGO and Knex and his brother. He also just finished up swimming lessons, and now he’s stuck waiting until the new year before he gets to try soccer. It’s still hard to believe he’s only 4.

Aden: …is working on schoolwork every week day. He also just wrapped up swimming lessons and he to is awaiting soccer in the new year. We tried to get him in basketball but it didn’t work out.

Angela: …is one busy woman. In case you didn’t know, we are homeschooling Aden this year. We hope this isn’t a permanent thing (for our kids entire schooling career) but for now it is our best choice. She is also helping me prepare walls for painting, there are several walls in our house with wallpaper that needs to go, so we’ve been ripping of the stuff that comes off easy and then using hot water to take off the more persistant stuff.

Kent: …is doing renovations…plumbing, wiring, painting… ’nuff said.

Us: We’ve had some visitors over the last month and a half, my parents came out at the end of Sept. for a few days, and again last weekend for a short birthday visit, and Angela’s parents came out for the week prior to Thanksgiving.

Coming soon: a renovation update, the riding report, hiking wind-up, and a sweet surprise.
