There’s no fun like snow fun
Yahoo! it’s snowing again.
This past week we were blessed to have visitors, The Evil Durik and Lady Nicole. It was a great week filled with food, fellowship, games, fun and general mayhem… and something that Derek really wanted to do – go skiing (snowboarding for me). So last Saturday (Dec 29th) Durik & I were off to Red Mountain for a day in powder (Red had just received 24 cm of snow the day before). What fun! There was an abundance of terrain and snow and even with the slightly longish lift lines there was no one to be found on the runs we were on. Following a day of rest and New Year’s Eve we were back at Red on New Year’s Day for more adventures, this time with an old friend of ours, Jared, and a new one of mine, Duane. (mental note: New Year’s Day is a great day to go riding, it is almost like having the hill to your self.) Again we managed to find good snow, although we did have to work harder to find it.
The following day Durik was off to Whitewater with Jared. Nicole, Angela, and the kids were off to Nelson for a fun day, and I worked.
And that brings us to today. Today we sent Derek & Nicole on their way so they can be back in S’toon for friday evening. Boo hoo. It was nice to have you visit. The snow will be even better at the end of March if you want to get a few more runs in, who knows, maybe Simon & Laura want to go skiing too (wink, nudge).
Thanks for the visit. See you soon.

Yes, yes, it was quite an adventure staying at the Goert’z household.
Many thanks from us for being the best host and hostess possible. Not only were you great hosts but you were better syblings. We were refreshed, energized and ready to return because of your kindness and love.
There were great adventures (almost skiing off a cliff, driving in 8cm of snow up an 8% grade with all seasons, and many renditions of “do the lion, and do the lip” from Aisha), great moments (getting to ring the new year in together), and great feasts (stir fry, chicken ceasar, and much, much ice cream and pop)
Thank you once again for everything. We miss you all so much already. I can hardly wait until we get to come up again.
Love ya,
Derek and Nicole

Hey Derek & Nicole, once again thanks for coming out… it was so nice to have you here.
Simon (& Laura),
It was great to see you even though it was very quick. Hopefully you can twist D & N’s arm to get them to come out here for a visit… either with snow or maybe this summer. Regardless, we love you. (Although we will stop loving you if you don’t come visit. Sorry, it’s just a matter of principle.)
