yardovation

It has begun. Once again the work commences. And like our last yard project, this one is a biggy.
What’s up with buying houses that need lots of yard work? Not that I mind, but it would be nice to just enjoy a yard without having to create it first. I won’t show any “before” pictures just yet, I want to do the work first. The starting point to this project is the front yard, my helpers (the boys and girl) and I will be taking out all the existing grass and the few plants that do exist in the front and totally redoing it… mostly we’ll be planting perennials as well as a few shrubs and possibly a cherry tree. Then it will be on to the side yard (we don’t really have a “backyard, it is a side yard but it’s still quite private). The side yard is the big project. Basicly we will be re-sodding the whole yard, but first we have to move a bunch of dirt around and add landscaping blocks in order to “step” the yard into two levels, and then plant an apple tree and maybe a pear tree, and then do a bunch more perennials before also adding a hedge to the side of the yard bordering the street. Oh yeah, and before we can do any of that, we have to get rid of a whole wack of busted up bricks and other debris, including a dead tree, the remains of a fallen apart composter and buckets full of yard waste.

So, enough talk… it’s time to get back to work.

recently…

So, here’s a brief update to things that have gone on recently.

The boys had snowboarding lessons at the beginning of April. They had fun but I think that next year they’ll try skiing. It’s easier for young children to learn because it doesn’t require the leg strength that snowboarding does.

We celebrated Cadel’s 5th birthday on April 21st, but we partied on the 19th.

Coinciding with Cadel’s birthday, Aden’s Beaver’s club went wall climbing…

Among the other things that went on were swimming lessons (sorry, no pictures), of course more school, and the other daily rituals. As far as ongoing stuff, well the boys are in soccer (again, no pictures yet) and they are outside riding something (bikes or skateboards) daily.

And this past weekend Aden & I got to attend the annual Beaveree and be mad scientists with all the other Beaver colonies in the west Kootenay area.

And how about Aisha? Well, she’s a flurry of activity, a wellspring of busy-ness, and a basketful of cuteness. And she’s not even three yet. Oh boy!

As far as Angela & I go… well, we got our turn to have fun two weeks ago when we blasted off to Calgary for a child free shopping weekend (yahoo!). Ang has been busy taking care of our children and working on her secret project, and I have been busy working on a complete yard overhaul (lots of work) and have had a chance to do a couple of gigs lately with the band, Blacklight Prophet.
