It has begun. Once again the work commences. And like our last yard project, this one is a biggy.
What’s up with buying houses that need lots of yard work? Not that I mind, but it would be nice to just enjoy a yard without having to create it first. I won’t show any “before” pictures just yet, I want to do the work first. The starting point to this project is the front yard, my helpers (the boys and girl) and I will be taking out all the existing grass and the few plants that do exist in the front and totally redoing it… mostly we’ll be planting perennials as well as a few shrubs and possibly a cherry tree. Then it will be on to the side yard (we don’t really have a “backyard, it is a side yard but it’s still quite private). The side yard is the big project. Basicly we will be re-sodding the whole yard, but first we have to move a bunch of dirt around and add landscaping blocks in order to “step” the yard into two levels, and then plant an apple tree and maybe a pear tree, and then do a bunch more perennials before also adding a hedge to the side of the yard bordering the street. Oh yeah, and before we can do any of that, we have to get rid of a whole wack of busted up bricks and other debris, including a dead tree, the remains of a fallen apart composter and buckets full of yard waste.
So, enough talk… it’s time to get back to work.
