Yardovation pt.2

By Kent

It took a while, but we finally have a clean slate for yard work. When we first moved here, we wanted to change our yard, but with just moving and starting life, we were unable to do anything with it last year. Fast forward to this summer and we totally changed the yard in front of the house. But because of the size of the job, we were unable to get going on our side yard. The side yard was a big one and I wasn’t ready for it. I thought about doing it myself but it was just too big. So we made arrangements with a local landscaper to rip up and level my yard. A few weeks ago he was finally able to come do it. With his excavator and skid steer he quickly ripped up the old sod and leaded dirt and even unearthed a few surprises (like car axle parts). The kids loved watching the “mighty machines”, the boys even sat outside in the rain just to watch. Now we just have to build a small retaining wall, plan where we want the fruit trees and flower beds, and lay the sod (in spring).
